Meet The Artist

Sylvia at Anderson Ranch (1).jpg

                                     Sylvia Emery Wilhelm

Sylvia has always enjoyed experimenting with various art forms, particularly collage. She also owned a textile design business for 25 years making hand painted and printed fabrics for design houses, stores and individuals.

She had her first success exhibiting collages in fourth grade, winning the grand prize and a candy bar. In her twenties she headed into the world of dance creating painted costumes and designed sets for all of her works.  This eventually morphed into a hand painted textile design business she owned and operated for 25 years. She block-printed, screen-printed, printed with found objects, and stenciled designs onto dyed fabrics for private clients, stores and wholesale design houses.  For the past 10 years, Sylvia has returned to collage and oil painting, and has been experimenting with applying some of her printing techniques to painted paper, which is then cut or torn to use in collages, assemblages, or works that combine painting with collage.   Her work has been displayed throughout the western slope of Colorado and in the Denver area.
